Math Instructor

Knowledgeable and mature English or math tutor needed for students between ages 4-14. ***CREDENTIALED TEACHERS STRONGLY PREFERRED. Schedule: Training will take place on certain weekday mornings between 9am-noon. Regular hours will be approx. 4-7 Wednesday through Friday. Minimum of two days. Hours: 6-12 hours/week depending on enrollment. *Hours and responsibilities may increase, depending on your interests and job performance. All teaching materials are provided. The instructor will work with students in a small group setting. Must be flexible and adaptable with changes in setting and time. This is a part-time, after school, and year-round position. Requirements: -Must be passionate about working with kids and have a likable personality! -Excellent communication skills with adults and children -Sense of responsibility, patience, enthusiasm, ability to multi-task, willingness to work with children of different learning strengths. -Proficient knowledge in mathematics, reading & writing K-10 --Teacher certification or Montessori trained would be a plus. -College student or above with at least 20 units completed -Just retired teachers are welcomed to apply, but should be willing to adapt to our curriculum and model of teaching. General Responsibilities: -Provide appropriate academic coaching to the student according to the center policy -Motivate and encourage students through positive reinforcements -Discuss with the Director of the students' progress after every end of the session or end of business day -May start off with grading booklets in the beginning to become familiar with the program -10 hour trial period is required before a permanent offer will be made Job Type: Part-time Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour Work Location: In person
