Senior Accountant
Position Overview A rapidly expanding manufacturing organization is seeking a high-performing Senior Accountant to join its finance team. This highly visible role goes beyond traditional ledger maintenance, offering a direct opportunity to partner with leadership, optimize operational processes, and support corporate scalability. Core Responsibilities General Ledger & Financial Reporting: Take ownership of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close cycles. Prepare complex journal entries, manage balance sheet reconciliations, analyze financial statement variances, and deliver actionable insights to leadership. Internal Controls & Compliance: Maintain a strong corporate governance framework. Ensure absolute compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies within a rigorous, SOX-compliant control environment. Coordinate deliverables for audit teams and assist with technical reporting requirements. Operational & Inventory Accounting: Partner directly with Supply Chain and Operations to manage standard costing, analyze inventory valuation, and track manufacturing variances. Provide the financial oversight needed to optimize margins and improve production efficiency. Systems & Process Optimization: Champion continuous improvement initiatives. Leverage advanced Excel capabilities and enterprise ERP systems to streamline accounting workflows, eliminate manual steps, and build scalable reporting structures. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Credentials: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required. Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Background must include time spent in public accounting and/or a corporate accounting department of a publicly traded organization. (Big 4 experience is a plus). Technical Skills: Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, corporate close procedures, and internal controls frameworks. Industry Exposure: Prior experience handling inventory, cost accounting, or standard costing within a manufacturing environment is highly preferred. Systems: Proficiency navigating major ERP ecosystems (such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent enterprise software). High-level Excel skills are mandatory; experience with data analytics or automation tools (like Alteryx) is a plus.
