Project Manager Commercial HVAC / Mechanical ConstructionPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. The role is responsible for delivering projects on time, on budget, and to quality and safety standards while maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate combines construction and mechanical system knowledge with proven project management skills in commercial HVAC environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the full project lifecycle: planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.Develop and maintain realistic project schedules and resource plans; monitor progress and drive corrective actions to meet milestones.Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost control, and profitability; prepare and approve change orders and pay applications.Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and internal trade partners to ensure work is sequenced and executed correctly.Review and interpret mechanical and construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings; ensure installation meets design intent and code requirements.Oversee quality control and commissioning activities for HVAC systems, including testing, balancing, and system start-up.Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and company standards; lead or participate in safety meetings and inspections.Serve as primary client contact; provide regular project updates, manage expectations, and promptly address client concerns.Manage RFIs, submittals, permits, and documentation; maintain accurate project records and reporting in project management systems.Identify and manage project risks and opportunities; implement mitigation plans and lessons learned.Mentor and coordinate project engineers, superintendents, and site teams to promote collaboration and professional development.QualificationsBachelors degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.Minimum 5 years of project management experience in commercial construction with hands-on exposure to mechanical and HVAC systems.Proven experience managing commercial HVAC projects, including air handling units, rooftop units, VAV systems, chillers, boilers, ductwork, piping, and controls.Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, commissioning processes, testing and balancing, and quality assurance practices.Demonstrated ability with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Procore, Primavera) and proficiency with MS Office.Experience preparing and managing budgets, schedules, change orders, and subcontractor agreements.Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and client-management skills.Certifications such as PMP, CCM, or HVAC-specific credentials are a plus; OSHA 30 card preferred.Ability to read mechanical drawings and take-off quantities; familiarity with BIM/Revit is advantageous.Willingness to travel to project sites and a valid drivers license.
