Special Education Classroom Teacher (Primary School)
DutiesJob Duties & ResponsibilitiesEmbrace and help grow the mission of Pleasant Valley which is to "engage, inspire, and empower each student towards academic excellence and citizenship".Teach a self-contained 4th Grade classroom of students who have physical, intellectual, emotional, and/or learning disabilities.Work closely with other district specialists to develop individual student needs, create and achieve academic and social goals, and promote life school at school and home.Prepare students for standardized testing.Develop and enforce classroom rules.Contact parents to acquire & provide information on academicstudent progress, behavior and attendance when necessary.Supervise students during recess, lunch and extracurricular activities as needed.Escort students to and from classrooms upon arrival and between classes as needed.Establish an appropriate, positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.Supervise and monitor the halls during arrival, bathroom breaks, in between classes and at dismissal.QualificationsQualifications & SkillsBachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution required.Professional Educator's License (PEL) required.Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBSI) endorsement strongly preferred.Must have a positive attitude and positive approach to meeting the needs of our students.Display fair judgment, time management, and an ability to prioritize.Organized and able to multitask.Strong ability to control a classroom in a direct, but positive, manner.Salary/BenefitsSchedule & Time Off37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday180 total working days per school year12 sick days and 3 personal days per school yearHow to ApplyEMAIL complete employment application, letter of interest, resume, transcripts, copy of your valid IL Educator license, and one letter of recommendation to: btrecek@pv62.comEmployment application can be found on the District's website: www.pv62.comEmail Addressbbobbitt@pv62.comSchool Districthttps://www.pv62.comPosition Websitehttps://www.pv62.com/employmentILearn LinkILearnReport Card LinkDistrict Report CardJob Posting Date3/2/2026Start Date8/3/2026
