As an Innovation Engineering Intern, you’ll get hands-on experience in product development, prototyping, and process improvement within a pulp-based manufacturing environment. You’ll learn by doing- collecting data, running tests, and observing real production processes alongside engineers and technicians. This internship is perfect for curious, motivated students who enjoy problem-solving, teamwork, and exploring how ideas move from the lab to full-scale production.Your Responsibilities Will Include Promote a safe, compliant, and effective work environment by identifying and eliminating safety risks. Create, train, monitor, and maintain Centerlines and standard operating procedures for various lab and process areas. Understand and support all process areas, including Repulping, Delivery, Forming, and Coating; assist with troubleshooting process, material, and coating issues. Perform sample collection and standard testing; learn and apply basic testing techniques alongside Process Engineers and technicians. Apply knowledge of raw materials, process chemistry, chemical dosing, and dewatering principles to ensure quality production and troubleshoot issues. Understand quality control criteria for finished products and work to resolve process or material-related quality defects. Collaborate with Process Engineers, Subject Matter Experts, and vendors to optimize equipment, processes, and startup of new systems. Manage and analyze process trials using DMAIC or other Lean Six Sigma methodologies for continuous improvement. Partner with Maintenance teams to support preventive maintenance, identify spare parts, and develop equipment maintenance best practices. Complete additional assignments or projects as directed by supervisors or management. What Makes a Person Successful In This Position. Comply with GMP rules and regulations General use of Microsoft office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Independent troubleshooting skills The ability to work independently on projects on an as-needed basis. Strong Communication Skills Detail oriented with the ability to multitask. Must have a positive attitude towards teamwork and continuous process improvement. What will my schedule be like?During the course of the Summer Internship Program, you will work M-F up to 40 hours a week.
