EDA Cloud & Developer Infrastructure Engineer

OpenAI's Hardware organization is building AI-native silicon and system-level solutions. This Infrastructure Software Engineer role focuses on designing and scaling cloud infrastructure, HPC environments, CI/CD pipelines, and developer workflows that accelerate OpenAI's custom silicon development across the full hardware lifecycle.
What You'll Do: Build developer tools and workflows that automate hardware engineering processes and accelerate productivity Design, implement, and operate large-scale regression systems for job scheduling, execution, results collection, and reporting Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure, developer tooling, and cluster configurations Design and operate cloud infrastructure and high-performance compute clusters, optimizing scheduling, capacity, and cost efficiency Develop data pipelines, monitoring systems, and observability infrastructure to provide visibility into regression results and resource utilization Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, improve alerting, and build resilient, maintainable systems What You NeedStrong software engineering fundamentals with proficiency in Python or similar programming language Deep technical expertise in at least one infrastructure domain: Linux/HPC environments, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD systems, storage, or networking Experience designing, deploying, and operating cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure, with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Bicep Strong Linux systems knowledge including processes, filesystems, networking, permissions, and performance troubleshooting Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Buildkite, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms
Nice to Have: Experience supporting ASIC or semiconductor development environments including EDA workflows, design verification, physical design, emulation, or formal verification Experience operating large-scale HPC clusters or workload schedulers such as Slurm Familiarity with enterprise identity and authentication systems such as Entra ID, OpenLDAP, FreeIPA, or SSSD Experience designing and operating relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
