Intern: Family Based Mental Health ProfessionalSummaryThe Intern: Family Based Mental Health Professional will provide family therapy, individual, group or other treatment modalities or interventions within the home, school, and community as necessary to maintain the family in a stable home condition; The Family Based Mental Health Professional will serve as the lead therapist within the team.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsible for screening, assessing, treatment planning and after-care discharge planning for all families assigned.Attend and participate in appropriate conferences, meetings, training sessions and treatment sessions as they relate to the families in this project when possible.Conduct family, individual and group therapy and case management goals will be linked directly to the treatment plan, treatment plan reviews and case notes.Ensure that psychotherapeutic and case management goals will be linked directly to the plan, treatment plan reviews and case notes.Establish a close and extended family like relationship with identified families as a unit.Provide links to community resources, and all other appropriate services for the family.Provide 24-hour emergency services 7 days per week, as scheduled, and provide back-up for other team members when appropriate.Perform case management activities or monitor them as necessary to ensure the success of the treatment plan.Through collaboration and/or supervision, ensure the involvement of the mental health worker in the assessment, treatment, planning, treatment delivery, relationship with the family and discharge planning.Arrange for relief services as required by the treatment plan.Present, with the mental health worker, the progress and status of the plan at staffing.Responsible to the program supervisor for program statistics and other needed documents, which may include weekly productivity reports and other basic administrative duties.Ensure proper disbursement of FSS funds.Attend weekly staff meetings.Attends quarterly general staff meetings.Participates in ongoing in-service training programs.Utilize NTC's Electronic Health Records (E.H.R.) during tenure of employment. Initial training and on-going training will be provided to employee by respective supervisor and/or assigned team member.Employee will be proficient in their job position within six (6) months. If at any time an employee feels they need more training/education, employee submits a request for such through their supervisor, manager, and/or director.Other duties and functions as assigned.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Winning Behaviors, Competencies and SkillsMust possess the ability to analyze complex issues and solve them correctly and creatively.Must possess the ability to meet established deadlines and schedules.Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to the clients and the client's family.Must be organized and efficient in the performance of their job.Must possess leadership qualities.Ability to make clear and pertinent statements both orally and in writing.Takes initiative - seek ways to complete assignments with a minimum of guidance.Job Knowledge - consider relationship in length of time in assignment.Problem Solving - take on new responsibilities and work toward solutions.Communication - effectively communicate both verbal and written format with peers, consumers, management.Commitment to continued learning - works to improve self and team members.Continuous quality Improvement - works to eliminate waste and make improvements.Teamwork - acts as team player, supports team goals, can lead and follow.Strong decision-making skills.Attendance - works as scheduled.Positive Attitude - gets involved in company groups.Flexibility - ability to accept new directions on short notice.Cross Training - works to share knowledge with others in a helpful way.Education and/or Experience Knowledge of psychotherapy modalities, principles and practices as well as demonstrative capacity to further develop the same.Knowledge of individual and group behavior and interrelationships between families, social, economic, psychological and physiological factors.Good knowledge and ability in the utilization of therapeutic skills and principles.Ability to plan and integrate all clinical services received by the family or child involved in the program.Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate clinical records, make clinical and formulate service plans and family goals.Ability to supervise and work as lead therapist in conjunction with a secondary family based mental health worker.Ability to perform basic administrative duties and tasks assigned by the program supervisor.The Intern Mental Health Professional must be enrolled in a graduate program in psychology, social work, nursing, education or any other graduate degree in the field of human services, plus two years' experience in like system or be a licensed RN with 5 years psychiatric experience plus certification by the office of Mental Health as a Family Based worker or enrollment in an OMH approved Family Based Training Program, or a bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology , social work, nursing or any degree in the field of human services plus certification by the office of mental health as a family based mental health worker.Physical DemandsMust be able to travel.Current/Valid Driver's License.Position may/will require use of own vehicle.Sedentary work: duties require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry push, and pull articles such as files and computer binders.Work EnvironmentWorks in well-lit office environment.Works in the home, community, and school.Language SkillsAbility to write reports and correspondence.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Reasoning Ability Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.InternshipWhen completing an internship in the Family Based Mental Health Program, the following will be expected:TimelinessRespectful and professional communication with all clients, peers and supervisors.You will be expected to contribute fully to the development of your learning goals.Be open to receiving feedback and open to new learning opportunities.Maintain all client confidentiality.Adhere to all guidelines and policies set forth for employees by Northern Tier Counseling, Inc.Powered by JazzHR
