PRIMARY PURPOSE
Organize and plan preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, and emergency repair plumbing section work orders to maintain the successful operation of all AISD plumbing systems; as required to meet department responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma with minimum of a current plumbing journeyman license
Master license preferred
Must have valid Texas driver's license
A satisfactory driving record
Four years of experience in the plumbing trade area with working knowledge of commercial plumbing equipment
KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of trade with background in maintenance of plumbing and irrigation equipment and systems
Required experience maintaining commercial and residential water heaters, all types of domestic water circulator and booster pumps, natural gas lines, wastewater lines, and plumbing related equipment operation, i.e., threading machines, sewer cleanout machines, vacuum and jetting machines, and all types of welding equipment (gas and electric)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Organizes, plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the daily workload of journeymen plumbers, plumbing technicians, and plumbing helpers engaged in the proper and successful installation, preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, and emergency repair of District plumbing systems
Conducts regular inspections of in-progress and completed plumbing projects
Provides regular on-site supervision of hazardous or unusual work assignments
Assures availability of equipment, materials, tools, supplies, and safety equipment for plumbing section employees to properly complete assigned tasks
Initiates requisitions for equipment, materials, tools, and supplies for plumbing section employees to properly complete assigned tasks
Estimates time and material costs required to successfully complete special projects
Trains personnel in the safe operation of equipment and tools
Maintains facility plumbing fixtures, valves, irrigation systems/subsystems, wastewater lines, natural gas lines, commercial and residential water heaters, pump lift stations, floor drains and related piping, and annual natural gas testing, as directed by department supervisor
Responsible for successful organization, leadership, and function of plumbing section operations
Provide skilled assistance and leadership to all plumbing section employees
Assists in the coverage of plumbing section employee absences and the training of new employees
Assure all plumbing section tasks are completed to meet or exceed local and state code requirements
All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or anyone in his line of authority
EQUIPMENT USED
All of the following, associated with the plumbing trade, but not limited to: power tools i.e.,
Threading machines, sewer cleanout machines, vacuum and jetting machines, and all types of welding equipment (gas and electric)
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Continuous lifting, climbing, reaching, and stooping
ENVIRONMENT: Will work in, under, around, outside of all AISD facilities. Employee will exposed to all atmospheres found in this region of Texas. Working in trenches may be required.
JOB DUTIES: Maintain all AISD plumbing systems and subsystems and district welding needs as noted above.
NORMAL WORKING HOURS: 7:30-4:00-8 HOURS. Work hours may be adjusted to serve district.
