Engineer I Position Summary The Engineer I position is an entry-level role requiring 0-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering. The selected candidate will apply engineering principles, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power-related systems . Key Responsibilities Assist in the design and construction of power-related systems. Support estimate preparation , develop design options , and prepare construction specifications . Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors in the development of design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages. Promote and ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety. Understand the processes involved in planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance. Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate design, construction, and maintenance activities. Apply industry and Southern Company design standards to engineering solutions. Support design standard and criteria development for the system. Assist construction and maintenance teams in daily operations. Estimate materials for projects and manage the transmission of construction packages and specifications . Required Skills & Qualifications Foundational engineering knowledge and basic problem-solving abilities. Ability to make limited independent decisions based on procedures, with supervisor review. Basic proficiency in discipline-specific software . Strong work ethic and positive attitude . Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering teams, and vendors.
