Senior Engineer
Overview
In this Senior Engineer role, you provide technical leadership across complex, multidisciplinary projects and mentor engineers across multiple offices. You will oversee planning through construction, ensure quality and budget compliance, and act as a technical reviewer for reports and designs. You’ll build and sustain client relationships while pursuing new opportunities to expand Thompson Engineering’s regional presence. The position offers a chance to shape projects, guide teams, and contribute to the firm’s growth in transportation, site civil, water resources, and related disciplines. ResponsibilitiesProvide technical leadership on complex engineering projectsLead multidisciplinary project teams from planning through constructionMentor and develop engineering staff across multiple office locationsServe as a technical reviewer for engineering reports, plans, and specificationsBuild and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for future workSupport business development, proposal preparation, and strategic planning initiativesCoordinate with public agencies, municipalities, and private clientsAssist in expanding Thompson Engineering's engineering services and regional presenceEnsure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations
Key requirementsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline10+ years of progressive engineering experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license requiredDemonstrated expertise in Transportation, Site Civil, Water Resources, Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H), Coastal Engineering, Federal Infrastructure, Municipal Engineering, Land DevelopmentProven ability to lead multidisciplinary teamsStrong client relationship management and business development experience (preferred)Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skillsleadershipcommunicationstrategic planningTransportationSite CivilWater Resources
