Mechanical Engineer (PE)
Spur Design is looking for a Mechanical Engineer who is eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to meaningful work. This role supports mechanical and plumbing design across a range of projects while being part of a firm that prioritizes people, teamwork, and creating spaces for the good of others.This role is intended for a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). EITs actively pursuing licensure may be considered.Responsibilities:Provide Mechanical engineering design, guidance, and documentation on projects within Spur Design including client liaison, site investigations, contract documents, and construction administrationDevelop detailed Mechanical drawings/specifications from schematic design through construction documents using Revit MEP or other modeling softwarePerform Mechanical engineering tasks including, but not limited to, production of contract documents, specifications, drafting drawings, design narratives, calculations, equipment selections, and combining of submission packagesApply codes, design guidelines, engineering judgment, company standards, and industry best practices to support personal growth and deliver quality service to Spur clientsManage project priorities and contribute to program coordination within a multi-disciplinary teamMonitor time spent on assigned projects and maintain accurate daily recordsMaintain and update office systems including Revit (BIM) libraries, filing systems, and project management toolsTravel for site visits, professional coordination, and visits to satellite officesCollaborate with the Mechanical Director and design team to improve Spur Design’s methods and processesAttend office meetings and report regularly on project progressSupport marketing efforts, project interviews, level-of-effort estimates, and proposal developmentSeek opportunities to ask questions, learn next steps, and grow professionallyDemonstrate professionalism and represents Spur with integrity in all settingsQualifications:4+ years of experience in the construction industryBachelor’s degree in an ABET accredited four-year college or university in Engineering Services, Architectural Engineering, Construction Science, or a related fieldPassed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examWorking knowledge of construction specifications and documentationProficient in reading and interpreting construction documents and drawingsFoundational knowledge of architectural building systems and accessibility guidelinesFamiliarity with Owner-Architect Agreements, Owner-Contractor Agreements, and Architect-Consultant AgreementsPossess strong organizational skills and high level of follow-throughStrong time management skills- must be able to balance deadlines, responsiveness, and maintain the quality of bothExcellent written and verbal communication skills and high attention to detailProficiency with various software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Bluebeam, etc.Benefits:Benefits offered with the full-time position include paid time off, sick time off, holiday time off; Healthcare, STD, LTD and Life Insurance plans; reimbursement for professional exams and continuing education; and retirement contributions as follows:15-25 days of accrued personal time off (PTO) based on years in professionPaid Holidays including:New Year’s DaySpur Design Inception Day (observed the Friday before Memorial Day)Memorial DayIndependence DayLabor DayThanksgiving Day and the following FridayChristmas Day and the weekdays between Christmas and New Year’s DayShort-term Disability (STD) and Long-term Disability (LTD) are provided at no charge and include compensation of up to 60% of annual base salary.Life insurance in the amount of up to $100,000 or 2x annual base salary (whichever is less) is provided at no charge.Health Insurance, employer covers 100% of employee and family premiumsDental Insurance, employer covers 100% of employee and family premiumsVision Insurance. employer covers 100% of employee and family premiumsRetirement benefits include matching 401k contributions of 1-for-1 matching up to 3% and 1-for-2 matching up to 5%, with a maximum match of 4% for a 5% employee contribution.
