Job Title: MPV BUS DRIVER (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) Exemption Status: Non-ExemptReports to: Director of Transportation Pay Grade: 05Works with: Students/Personnel Days: 187Department: TransportationPrimary Purpose: Safely transporting students to and from school, to and from related school activities, in accordance with district policies and procedures.PrerequisitesHigh School Diploma or GEDAt least 21 years of age requiredMaintain a minimum of a Class “C” drivers’ license by the State of TexasSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to pass the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) alcohol/drug tests and physical examMeet all state TEA qualifications for school bus driversAbility to understand written and verbal instructionsAbility to manage student behaviorMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Competency to complete required bus driver safety trainingMust be able to communicate effectively in speaking, reading, and writingAvailable for regular and possible overtime work, and is absent only with good causeExhibits good judgement in decision making and problem-solvingOperates a Multi-Purpose Vehicle bus safely and efficientlyAccessible to dispatcher or supervisor for daily assignmentsAttends all required staff developmentsDemonstrates leadership with proper attendance and punctualityUses time wisely to ensure productivity and efficiencyAbility to work well with children with disabilitiesAbility to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipmentObserve all traffic laws and safety regulations for school busesOperate and monitor two-way radio equipment to communicate with transportation office and other drivers.Complete and maintain accurate, up to date, and timely records and reports including but not limited to those related to bus mileage, gas and oil consumption, and number of passengers transported.Maintains a clean vehicle, externally and internally, and replenishes fuel as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsTools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reachingLifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hoursMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
