HANDYMAN
Efficiently perform a variety of duties in the shipping and receiving department. Build shipping crates and pallets. Paint machines and parts. Locate, pick up and deliver materials, supplies, parts and equipment. Perform repairs and maintenance to plant equipment and facilities as directed. Follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
Operate truck to make local deliveries to transfer station, post office, airport and freight station. Pick up locally from post office, factories, hardware stores, steel mills, etc. Use material list, parts list, sales order and sign receipt as required. Perform minor truck maintenance and have truck serviced as necessary. Load and unload truck as required.
Obtain parts, items, machines and equipment to be boxed and crated. Measure items and build the required crate or box to size. Measure and mark lumber to cut to size. Secure cut material with bolts, lag screws, nails, etc. Brace, block, and strap as required to secure strength. Change and adjust saw blades to secure proper cuts. Secure crates with metal straps or banding. Cover crated and boxed items with plastic or other protective materials as specified. Build items such as pallets, skids, boxes, workbenches, and tables. Identify and mark boxes and crates for shipping. Safely load, unload, and move machines and materials on and off trucks and throughout the facility as directed using cranes and fork trucks. Check materials and items being shipped or received against invoices, pick lists, packing lists, bills of ladings, etc. Notify the proper individual of shortages or damaged goods.
Set up, adjust and operate the spray gun and associated equipment such as pressure tanks and gauges to properly finish paint machines and parts. Operate sander and other tools required to prepare items for painting, clean paint filters, install new paint filters. Obtain the specific premixed paints and use the proper thinners to secure the desired viscosity, flow, coverage, and paint finish. Use masking tape and paper to mask off the areas and parts that are not to be painted or to meet or join paint coverages. Spray paint to the desired finish and remove masking tape. Clean paint area, paint gun and associated equipment as required. Strip and refinish as required.
Operate power saws. Set up, adjust and operate power saws to cut raw stock materials to specified size for use in production. Obtain the proper materials, number and size list from the supervisor. Secure the desired and proper blade from stores and adjust saw for proper blade tension and cutting speed. Measure, mark and position stock material in the saw, adjust saw vise, clamp material in the saw, adjust material leveler and feeder, flow of cutting lubricant or coolant and saw stop as required. Activate saw and cut the required size and number of pieces. Use the belt sander, file, or grinder to deburr cut stock. Use care to prevent damage to the equipment and maintain the proper counts and tallies. Expedite cut stock to the proper department and workstation.
Assist in the training of other personnel to improve technical proficiency and safety. Exercise care to prevent damage, waste, and scrap maintaining both high quality and quantity standards. Keep the required records.
Detect faulty operations and defective materials. Refer questionable cases to the supervisor. Maintain the area, tools and equipment in the proper manner. Maintain an assortment of personal tools in accordance with the current tool list. Follow standard safety regulations.
Perform these and other duties as required.'
