Our headquarters and primary manufacturing facility is in Leeds, Alabama while our Gilbert, Arizona fabrication and linings/coatings facility proudly serves our western United States customers. We are proud to be the nation’s largest supplier of porcelain glass linings for ductile iron pipe systems. We have more manufacturing machines for ductile iron pipe under one roof than any other ductile iron fabricator in the USA. We fabricate the full-size range (3”-64”) of ductile iron pipe available. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: C&B Piping is seeking a motivated Plant Engineer Intern to support piping systems, fabrication operations, and continuous improvement initiatives at our facility. This internship offers hands‑on experience in industrial piping, plant engineering, and process optimization while working alongside experienced engineers, supervisors, and trades professionals. Key Responsibilities   Piping & Plant Engineering Support Assist with inspections, walkdowns, and documentation Support troubleshooting of piping, valves, fittings, supports, and equipment Review and help update piping isometrics, P&IDs, drawings, and material lists Assist engineers with coordination of fabrication, repairs, and plant modifications Participate in field and shop verifications to ensure drawings match installed conditions Maintain engineering and maintenance documentation, including SOPs and work instructions Continuous Improvement & Operations Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives within the facility Assist with process mapping, time studies, and workflow improvements Collect and analyze data related to productivity, downtime, safety, quality, and rework Participate in 5S, standard work, and safety improvement efforts Help identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation Track and report progress on CI projects and performance metrics General Responsibilities Collaborate with fabrication, maintenance, quality, and operations teams Support plant safety policies and job site safety expectations Assist with capital improvement and equipment upgrade projects as assigned Perform other engineering and CI-related duties as needed   Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Qualifications and Skills: The ideal candidate will be one who is organized, friendly, punctual, flexible, and thoroughly professional and have: Experience: Required Qualifications Currently enrolled in an Engineering program (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related) Strong interest in industrial piping, fabrication, and plant operations Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word Ability to work safely in an industrial fabrication environment   Preferred Qualifications Coursework or experience related to piping systems, fluid mechanics, or mechanical design Familiarity with AutoCAD, piping isometrics, or P&IDs Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies Prior shop, field, internship, or co‑op experience in an industrial or construction setting   Physical Requirements: The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
