Aerospace Quality Engineer / CMM Programmer (Camio)
POSITION SUMMARYThe Aerospace Quality Engineer / CMM Programmer is responsible for ensuring product quality and compliance with aerospace standards through inspection planning, CMM programming, and first article validation. This role plays a critical part in supporting production, engineering, and customer requirements by applying strong knowledge of GD&T, AS9102, and precision measurement techniques.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop, program, and optimize CMM inspection routines using Camio softwareInterpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications with a strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)Perform and oversee First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirementsGenerate, review, and maintain FAI packages, including ballooned drawings and inspection reportsCreate and maintain detailed inspection plans and quality documentationAnalyze inspection data and provide feedback to engineering and manufacturing teamsSupport root cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconforming productsCollaborate with manufacturing and design teams to improve product quality and manufacturabilityEnsure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP where applicable)Maintain calibration awareness and proper use of inspection equipmentAssist with internal and external audits as requiredKEY SKILLSStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAttention to detail and high level of accuracyEffective communication and cross-functional collaborationAbility to manage multiple projects and prioritiesQUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or equivalent experience3+ years of experience in aerospace quality or inspection roleHands-on experience programming CMMs using CamioStrong proficiency in GD&T (ASME Y14.5)Solid understanding of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirementsExperience with inspection tools (CMM, height gages, calipers, micrometers, etc.)Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace drawings and CAD modelsFamiliarity with ERP/MRP systems and quality documentation systemsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environmentsKnowledge of AS9100 quality management systemsExperience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, CATIA)Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification is a plus
