Assistant Principal

ASSISTANT PRINCIPALQUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Master's degree from an accredited educational institution.Must hold a valid Alabama Certification in Educational Leadership, School Principal or Professional School Principal, or Administration and Supervision.Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience and/or administrative experience.Must pass a background clearance to meet the suitability criteria for employment under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.JOB GOAL:To serve as an instructional and administrative leader of the school and to work with staff, students, and community to formulate and accomplish the school's mission.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Utilizes and follows the state course of study2. Determines individual and class needs3. Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences4. Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives5. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere6. Exhibits positive human relations skills7. Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress8. Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups9. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication10. Maintains and submits records and reports11. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations12. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership13. Performs other related duties as assignedSalary Range: According to Cherokee County Schools Salary Schedule.
