The Operations Accountant will report to the Director of Accounting and Finance and will be responsible for performing highly skilled accounting work related to the operations of the College. The work is critical to college operations and requires a high degree of accuracy in preparing and auditing financial records and preparing financial reports. Salary: Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule: E1, Grade 01, $56,139 – $73,632. Work Hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the on-line application system to be considered. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Manage the Procurement Process, Revenue Recognition Cycle.Assist in the preparation of financial and statistical reports such as financial statements (In accordance with GAAP), budget performance (monthly budget-to-actual reports), and interim receivables financial reporting.Review monthly sales tax forms for submission.Review trial balance revenue/expense accounts monthly.Perform the processing of functional and benefits expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary.Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.Assist in budget planning and preparation.Monitor grants and contracts.Review complex agreements, financial information, and related policy and guidelines to identify award restrictions, reporting and other requirements such as Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR).Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external reports.Assist in maintaining the finance module in Banner.Maintain and provide auditable files and assist the auditors as needed.Monitor and balance inventory, prepaid, and A/P accounts.Maintain fixed assets module, including reconciling on a monthly basis and record appropriate journal entries.Coordinates with College Departments to identify surplus property, ensure proper documentation, and schedule surplus sales in compliance with state policies and college procedures for asset disposition.Assist in the review and preparation of the unclaimed property report annually.Maintains agency accounts in compliance with college procedures.Collaborates with departmental staff across all college divisions to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, revenue recognition, and expenditure tracking in accordance with institutional policies and applicable accounting standards.Maintains and reconciles subsidiary records to general ledger control accounts.Prepare various journal entries.Assist with purchasing budget setup and approvals.Approve expenditures and monitors budgets.Adheres to the policies, rules, and standards of Central Alabama Community College, Alabama Community College System, accrediting agencies and federal regulatory bodies.Assist the Director of Accounting and Finance with report preparation.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting and Finance or Vice President of Administration and Operations
