Field Technician (Independent Contractor) - Maryland
Position Summary:We are seeking a technically skilled and adaptable Field Technician as an independent contractor with a strong foundation in electrical principles to perform installations of routers, gateways, and sensors. While a deep understanding of IoT is beneficial, it's your electrical expertise that's crucial. We provide comprehensive training on IoT specifics, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to broaden their skill set in a cutting-edge field.Key Responsibilities:Install wireless pressure sensors on an air compressor system. The work involves safely shutting down the system, purging the air, installing an NPT fitting, and then installing the sensor into the fitting.The technician must ensure proper system functionality after installation, adhere to safety protocols, and document the process.Experience with air compressor systems and personal insurance is required.Perform installations of IoT devices, including routers, gateways, and sensors, across various environmentsRead and interpret wiring diagrams to effectively set up and troubleshoot IoT installations.Utilize a range of software tools for device setup and diagnostics, with a willingness to learn new applications as needed.Ensure clear and professional communication with clients and team members.Adhere to strict site safety protocols, especially in manufacturing settings, to maintain a secure work environment.Manage a flexible work schedule, adapting to varying workloads with the ability to plan one week in advance.Qualifications:Electrical Knowledge and Experience:Proficiency in basic electrical concepts, with the ability to understand and implement wiring diagrams. Strongly prefer candidates with experience pulling conduit, adding additional power, and wiring up panels.Software Proficiency: Competence in using various software applications, with a quick adaptation to new technologies.Communication: Excellent command of the English language, both in writing and speech, for effective communication. Versed in writing assessment reports, project completion summaries, and drawing up engineering diagrams.Site Safety Awareness: Familiarity with and commitment to site safety standards, especially within manufacturing contexts.Flexibility: Open to a variable hourly schedule, accommodating fluctuating workloads.Travel: Willingness to travel to various job sites, with compensated travel time.Tool Handling: Knowledge in using basic tools like drills and multimeters.
