Associate Director of Facilities Management-Grounds

Do you have experience planning landscaping, leading a great team and maintaining grounds that enhance the surrounding buildings. Grinnell College is looking for our next Associate Director of Facilities Maintenance/Grounds. This position is responsible for all aspects of comprehensive planning, managing, directing, supervising and maintaining the overall appearance of the college's grounds and landscaping. This is carried out through supervision of assigned Grounds Department staff, coordination with other Facilities Management trade shops, various departments and contractors. These responsibilities require extensive knowledge, ability and supervision in planning, initiating, and maintaining a comprehensive grounds maintenance program. Key Responsibilities Develops landscape features, grounds maintenance expectations, landscape design standards, and landscape installation implementation Serves as the professional grounds and landscaping consultant for the college Supervises the grounds staff, including horticulturists and auto/equipment mechanics Leads planning and set up of large-scale events Manages the moving of furniture, equipment, and supplies Manages mail/package delivery Oversees compost and recycling efforts of the college ABOUT GRINNELL COLLEGE Grinnell College is a top-ranking private liberal arts institution that values diversity, equity, inclusion, intellectual freedom, and social responsibility. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications The ability to manage and supervise multiple employees at once Able to review and evaluate landscape plans to determine proper plant, material and placement for proper growth, development, and design intent 7 years of experience with at least 3 of those years in a supervisory capacity Champions Diversity Equity and Inclusion Strong communication skills Ability to efficiently manage and organize projects Must effectively partner across all levels of campus constituencies Preferred Qualifications Iowa Pesticide Applicator License Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture Science Experience leading within a union environment Compensation: $80,000-$95,000/yr
