.6 FTE Family & Consumer Sciences Instructor (Leave replacement position for the 2026-2027 school year only)

DEFINITION OF POSITION: Directly responsible for quality instruction in the area of Family & Consumer Sciences to students in grades 9-12IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building PrincipalREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Possess or be eligible for a Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Family and Consumer Sciences* Possess or be eligible for a Washington State Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in CTE Family & Consumer Sciences EdPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience teaching at the high school levelExperience as a Family & Consumer Sciences teacher at the high school levelExperience and/or desire to coach or lead an extracurricular athletic or academic teamESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES:Create and implement lessons aligned with PHS & FCC frameworkAdvise and work with Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs)Advise and work with general and program advisory committeesCreate/maintain community partnershipsMaintain state and federal reporting requirementsCreate a welcoming and caring learning environmentDevelop formative and summative assessments that demonstrate student learningDesign and implement successful lab activities that supplement/initiate learningDifferentiate instruction for different types and levels of student learningAttend IEP and intervention meetings for the purpose of student supportOrganize individual, small, and large group learning activities as is appropriate to the students, subject matter, and outcomes desiredMaintain accurate records of student information and assessment data with the ability to access the information as needed or requestedRegularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performanceParticipate in building/district in-service activities, professional growth opportunities, and curricular planningBe knowledgeable in the unique needs of high school studentsWork positively with a wide variety of people both inside and outside the organizationWork with colleagues in a collaborative manner and be a positive team builderMeet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality workMaintain confidentialityWork with the public, other agencies and district employees in a positive and productive mannerCommunicate clearly, both orally and in writingWork with minimal supervision and be flexibleTERMS OF CONTRACT:Salary: $35,075 - $66,110 per year, placement based on experience and level of educationLength of Contract: .6 FTE, 180 days plus professional development days, leave replacement position for the 2026-2027 school year onlyLeaves/Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability coverage is provided through SEBB (School EmployeeBenefits Board) for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year. Retirement benefits are provided through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS).
