Back of House Team Leader

The Back-of-House (BOH) Team Leader is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and food preparation areas. This individual leads by example, ensuring that every food item prepared meets Chick-fil-A's rigorous quality and safety standards. As a leader of the heart of the business, the BOH Team Leader is accountable for running efficient shifts, maintaining operational excellence in food production, and developing BOH Team Members to consistently produce high-quality products. They are instrumental in creating a positive work environment and ensuring our guests receive delicious, safely prepared meals with every order. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Shift Management: Oversee and manage all BOH operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient food production. Lead, motivate, and coach BOH Team Members, providing guidance and support to maintain high performance standards. Delegate tasks effectively and ensure accountability for completion of daily checklists and operational procedures. Run team members breaks efficiently, ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained without compromising production. Act as the primary point of contact for BOH team members during shifts, addressing questions and resolving issues related to food prep, cooking, and equipment. Ensure proper BOH station setups are completed before and during shifts to optimize workflow and product quality. Food Quality & Production Excellence: Champion Chick-fil-A's food quality standards, ensuring all BOH Team Members adhere to recipes, portioning, and cooking procedures. Monitor production levels, speed, and accuracy, making real-time adjustments to meet demand and minimize waste. Conduct regular quality checks on prepared food items to ensure consistency and adherence to standards. Maintain expert knowledge of all BOH positions, equipment, and procedures. Operational Excellence & Safety: Execute opening and closing procedures for the BOH area, including equipment startup/shutdown, cleaning, and inventory checks. Ensure strict adherence to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling, storage, temperature control, and cross-contamination prevention. Manage inventory rotation (FIFO), assist with receiving deliveries, and communicate stock needs to management. Ensure all BOH equipment is operating correctly and report any maintenance needs promptly. Maintain an organized and clean kitchen environment, setting an example for all BOH staff. Team Development & Training: Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to BOH Team Members, including Certified Team Members. Assist in the training and development of new BOH Team Members, ensuring they are proficient in all kitchen positions. Foster a positive team culture through encouragement, recognition, and effective communication. QualificationsProven experience as a Certified BOH Team Member or equivalent leadership experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Strong understanding of Chick-fil-A food preparation, quality, and safety standards. Ability to manage kitchen operations efficiently under pressure. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to perform FOH and BOH duties. Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, stoop, and lift heavy items. Ability to work in varying temperatures (e.g., near ovens, in walk-in coolers). Ability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Comfortable working with hot oil and other kitchen hazards with proper safety precautions.
