The Scheduler is accountable for accurately and completely obtaining required information in the scheduling process, ensuring the correct patient and procedure/test/treatment requested, has been scheduled. The Scheduler is responsible for organizational and problem solving abilities including working knowledge of hospital resources and functions for problem solving.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesIt is expected that all duties and responsibilities of this position will be performed in a manner that reflects the values of the Catholic Healthcare Partners, which are Human Dignity, Justice, Compassion, Sacredness of Life, and ServiceMeet with patient to obtain necessary information needed for scheduling and patient availabilityAnswer questions regarding patient’s appointments and testingObtain consent form when applicableSchedules and coordinate patients’ procedures/test/treatment appointment(s). Forward all necessary orders to hospital or clinicVerify necessary information and records in CarePATH including insurance coverageMaintain and update current information on physician’s scheduleAnswer telephones, screen calls, take messages, and provide informationAssemble patient’s chart and update patient profilesSchedule any pre-testing, verify benefits and pre certification for all procedures/tests/treatment as needed and other diagnostic studies as neededAnswers questions regarding appointment, diagnostic testing, and/or procedureVerify benefits and coverage requiring knowledge of third party billing, insurance regulations and ICD-9/10 and CPT codingGenerate detailed, more personalized patient list, which allows rotations for patients that have different needsComplete and copy all reservation, patient forms, consent forms and file original chart and procedure chartCall representative fors pecific components if necessary for procedures/test/treatmentCheck and distribute faxesCall in any specific requestsMust be trained and competent in the scheduling and registration functionality of CarePATH and must be able to navigate in AS400, if applicableFrom time to time may be asked to assist in finding and securing accommodations for out of town patients and/or familiesObtain clinical information on patientsAdd on emergency cases or in-patient to providers scheduleReview each chart/patient to ensure everything has been completed prior to appointment dateModels the core concepts of a team-based organization such as: respect for others, commitment shared vision, mutual accountability, performance improvement, interdependence, motivation,/initiative, and a focus on patient outcomesMaintains confidentiality and actively supports patient/family rightsSupports and contributes to organizational cost-saving initiatives.Evaluates the effectiveness of equipment and processes for achieving positive patient outcomesRecognized and reports potential safety issuesDemonstrates sound judgement by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concernsEnsure compliance with regulatory standardsConsistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessaryMinimize non-productive time and Fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet future needsMaintain regular attendance and do not incur excessive overtimePerforms all other duties as assignedQualifications1-3 years of experience preferredEducation And/or ExperienceEducation: HS Diploma or GED Required, Associates degree desirableYears of Experience: Formal education and computer training preferred and equivalent work experience preferred.
