Housing Navigator

Kansas City, MO. Rose Brooks Center, a nonprofit domestic violence agency, is currently seeking a full-time Housing Navigator.This position is responsible for providing step by step support to survivors of domestic violence who present to the region’s Coordinated Entry System (CES) for homelessness diversion and housing assistance. This position is responsible for conducting outreach to, and coordinated entry assessments with, survivors at Rose Brooks Center, at other victim service agencies, and at other coordinated entry access points. The person in this position will provide assistance through all stages of the housing process (housing search, application, inspection and placement) to survivors referred through or diverted from the coordinated entry system. Other responsibilities include identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with local property managers/owners to help mitigate barriers to housing and expedite housing placement. The Housing Navigator reports to the Director of Housing and Economic Advocacy.Other Aspects Of PositionPerform all job responsibilities in accordance with agency policies and procedures, while demonstrating proficiency in all RBC competencies and utilizing the principles of trauma informed care, and accessibility; demonstrates a commitment to the overall mission of Rose Brooks Center.Maintain awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understand one’s own responsibility of self-care.Attend scheduled staff, team, and supervision meetings.Participate in all required trainings.QualificationsRequired Education, Experience and Skills:Two years of case management experience, preferably in a domestic violence agency and/or commensurate experienceKnowledge of domestic violence and familiarity with strengths-based perspectiveDemonstrated skills in time management, organization and prioritizationAbility to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others, both internally and externallyStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to build and maintain positive working relationships with community partnersProficient use of Windows operating system and programs Ability to maintain accurate, timely documentation of servicesValid driver’s license and proof of liability insurancePreferred Education, Experience And SkillsBachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field or commensurate work experienceTwo years’ advocacy experienceExperience in crisis response and working with survivors of domestic/sexual violence traumaKnowledge of Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines.Bilingual English/Spanish preferredHoursThis is a full-time, exempt position (average of 40 hours per week), which may require some evening hours to accommodate participants’ schedules. Some weekend hours may be necessary. This position requires the ability to share a workspace/office environment with others.CompensationThis position falls into a salary range starting at $46,000 annually (exempt).
