This role combines classroom instruction with hands-on application, preparing students for real-world audio environments including live performances and streamed productions. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of industry experience and academic insight, and is equally comfortable in the classroom, studio, and live event settings, with expertise in front-of-house mixing and broadcast/streaming audio workflows.Compensation: $55,000 – 65,000Key Instructional Responsibilities:· Teach up to nine credits per semester · Teach a range of specialized graduate and undergraduate courses including, but not limited to, Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, Reaper, and related platforms, with emphasis on recording, editing, and mixing for both live and hybrid environments · Provide instruction through lecture and hands-on application in live sound and streaming audio workflows, including console signal flow, system design, gain structure, and mixing for concerts, theater productions, sporting events, conferences, and lectures · Incorporate modern live sound technologies such as digital mixing consoles, Dante audio networking, wireless systems, in-ear monitoring, and hybrid live/streaming setups, while reinforcing core principles of microphones, dynamics processing, EQ, loudspeakers, acoustics, and system optimization · Stay current with emerging trends in live sound and streaming audio (e.g., immersive audio, remote mixing, virtual soundcheck) and integrate them into course content · Guide students through hands-on projects that balance technical skills with creative problem-solving in live production environments · Prepare students for careers in the professional audio industry through development of critical listening, teamwork, and communication skills in high-pressure live environments · Participate in departmental activities, including curriculum development, student advisement, and faculty committees · Perform administrative tasks utilizing the College's learning management system (LMS), including maintaining Canvas course shells, attendance tracking, and submitting grades · Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and contribute to the academic community of the College · Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals, alumni, and organizations to support networking opportunities, guest lectures, workshops, and collaborative student experiencesKey Live Sound Responsibilities:Live Event Sound Coordination and Management· Oversee all live sound requirements for college events, including concerts, theater productions, sporting events, conferences, lectures, and special events · Plan, coordinate, and execute the setup, operation, and breakdown of professional sound systems, including microphones, digital mixing consoles, PA systems, monitors, and recording/streaming interfaces · Mix and manage audio for both in-person audiences and live-streamed/broadcast events, including signal routing for streaming platforms, development of front-of-house and broadcast mixes, and maintenance of consistent audio quality across all outputs · Monitor and adjust audio levels in real time, troubleshoot technical issues, and adapt to the needs of performers, presenters, and both live and virtual audiences · Coordinate with event organizers, artists, and faculty to meet their sound requirements and ensure a seamless technical experience · Recruit, supervise, and manage student live sound crews to support College events · Provide leadership, mentorship, and real-time instruction to student crews, offering hands-on training in live mixing, livestream signal flow, split mixes, and troubleshooting in hybrid production environmentsEquipment Maintenance and Inventory Management· Maintain and oversee the College’s live audio equipment inventory through the College’s inventory management system, ensuring all assets are properly tracked, routinely audited, accurately documented on a per-semester basis, and fully operational, configured, and serviced · Perform minor equipment repairs as needed and coordinate external servicing or vendor repairs when required · Stay current with advancements in live sound, recording, and streaming/broadcast technologies, and recommend equipment upgrades, replacements, and system improvements to support evolving production needs · Manage the evaluation, acquisition, and implementation of new audio and streaming equipment, ensuring compatibility across live and hybrid production environments · Develop and enforce best practices for equipment use, storage, and maintenance, and ensure proper training for students and staff in the safe and effective operation of all audio and streaming systemsStudent Supervision and Training· Supervise students working on live sound crews, providing real-time instruction, during event setup, operation, and breakdown · Train students in professional live sound practices, including mixing techniques, gain structure, feedback control, microphone placement, signal flow, and troubleshooting in both live and streaming environments · Provide students with learning opportunities through hands-on participation in live events, productions, and hybrid/streaming workflows, while offering ongoing technical support and mentorship to reinforce skill development, problem-solving, and confidence in live production environmentsCollaboration and Administrative DutiesCollaborate with faculty, staff, and student event coordinators to ensure all live sound and streaming elements meet the College’s artistic, educational, and technical standards Assist in budget planning related to live sound and audio production, including equipment purchases, maintenance, and upgradesSupport departmental and institutional initiatives through active participation in administrative processes and cross-functional collaborationOther administrative duties, as requiredQualifications:Master’s degree in Audio Recording or a related fieldA minimum of 3 years' teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferredExtensive experience in mixing for both live
