Our client, a thriving financial services company headquartered in Amherst, NY, is growing their Oracle Database Development team. This is a SQL-immersive role — you'll spend the majority of your time writing queries, building stored procedures and functions, code based ETL development, designing database solutions from business requirements, and keeping data clean and performant behind the scenes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has built a strong foundation in database engineering and SQL — whether through formal professional experience or a combination of academic work and hands-on project experience — and is ready to do meaningful work in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
*Role is onsite 4 days/week in suburban, northtowns area with free parking
*Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
What You'll Do
Design and develop SQL-based ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from structured and unstructured sources into Oracle databases
Write and maintain Oracle stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support backend performance and business logic
Partner with business stakeholders to translate business ideas and requirements into practical database solutions
Troubleshoot and resolve data integrity and accuracy issues
Build and maintain reports of low-to-medium complexity, ensuring data consistency across applications
Create and maintain technical documentation including requirements, design specs, and user guides
Participate in brainstorming sessions and development discussions — your ideas matter here
What We're Looking For
Must-Have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
Strong SQL skills — not just writing queries, but writing stored procedures, functions, and understanding how to structure and manipulate data at the database layer
Ability to articulate how you would take a business problem and design a database solution to solve it
Strong foundation in relational database concepts (Oracle, SQL Server, or another enterprise relational database platform)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
High attention to detail and comfort handling confidential data
Nice-to-Have:
Professional experience in a SQL-heavy environment where you can speak to real-world work beyond academic projects
Experience with PL/SQL and code-based ETL development
Proficiency in a scripting or programming language such as Python, Java, or similar
Prior exposure to DBA (Database Administration) tasks or concepts
