DutiesDesigns, writes, modifies, tests, and debugs software for real-time embedded systemsCreates work products in the planning, requirements, design, implementation, test (IV&V), release, and support phases of the software development lifecycle, requirements and/or standards with supervision from higher level engineer(s)Writes and modifies documents associated with production softwareCreates derived (low-level) requirements from high-level requirementsAssists in problem identification, diagnosis and resolutionPerforms reviews for all software life cycle productsPrioritizes work order in order to achieve project obligations in a timely mannerApplies ongoing processing updates and changes as neededEnsures high production and quality standards by giving procedural and operational suggestionsPerforms other duties as assignedRequired EducationBS in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or PhysicsRequired Experience1+ years of related professional experienceSolid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processesProficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java)Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) concepts and fundamentals or related areas (e.g., network applications, network protocols)Proficiency with software development tools, including compilers, debuggers, issue trackers, revision control, and configuration management systemsExperience with unit testing and validation practicesWorking knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the software engineering fieldAbility to apply logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsProficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general internet toolsPreferred SkillsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptionsDemonstrated professionalism, courtesy, and tact when interacting with varied individuals (in person, by phone, and in writing)Proven ability to complete tasks accurately and within deadlinesAbility to follow established rules, regulations, and guidelines with consistencyProactive in identifying and communicating issues or risksTeam-oriented mindset with a willingness to support colleaguesAbility to work effectively under the supervision of senior engineers or managementMust be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
