This role oversees regulatory compliance, infection control practices, departmental policies and procedures, surveys, payroll, scheduling, staffing, reporting, environmental operations, inventory management, and all EVS-related systems and equipment.The EVS Supervisor handles sensitive and confidential information and must exercise sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of the role.Depending on operational needs or specific projects, this position may require flexibility in work locations, hours, and shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. This is an essential role and may require reporting during inclement weather or emergency situations to ensure continuous operations.ResponsibilitiesOversee and coordinate daily Environmental Services operations across assigned areas and shiftsEnsure all patient care areas, public spaces, and support departments meet Montefiore Einstein cleanliness and infection control standardsMonitor and enforce compliance with OSHA, CDC, and hospital regulatory requirements and infection prevention guidelinesSupervise, train, coach, and evaluate EVS staff to ensure performance expectations are consistently metManage staffing schedules, payroll processes, and workforce planning to meet operational needsConduct routine inspections, quality audits, and readiness for internal/external surveys; address deficiencies promptlyMaintain department policies and procedures and ensure adherence across the teamOversee inventory management of supplies and equipment; coordinate procurement as neededCollaborate with nursing, facilities, infection prevention, and leadership teams to support patient care operationsRespond to urgent or emergency cleaning needs, including isolation rooms, spills, and discharge cleansUtilize EVS systems and applications for reporting, tracking performance, and operational efficiencyDocument incidents, staff performance, inspections, and compliance activities as requiredQualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred2–5 years of Environmental Services, housekeeping, or related experience in a healthcare settingMinimum 1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferredStrong knowledge of infection control standards, cleaning procedures, and regulatory complianceExperience managing staff schedules, payroll, and operational reporting preferredProficiency with EVS-related systems, equipment, and technologyAbility to lead teams in a fast-paced healthcare environmentSkills & CompetenciesLeadership and team developmentStrong organizational and communication skillsAttention to detail and quality assuranceProblem-solving and decision-makingKnowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory standardsCustomer service and patient-centered mindsetAbility to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretionWork Environment & Physical RequirementsHospital setting with exposure to cleaning chemicals and biohazard materialsRequires prolonged standing, walking, and occasional liftingMust be able to work flexible schedules, including off-shifts, weekends, and holidaysMay be required to work at varying locations based on operational needsMontefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
