Inside Sales Representative – Building Materials Supplier Experience Level: 1+ years experience in sales or customer service, preferably within the building materials industry. The Role We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Inside Sales Representative to join our team. This vital role requires a blend of sales acumen, strong relationship-building skills, and an eagerness to learn about our extensive product offerings. You will be the crucial point of contact for our busy customers, helping them source materials accurately and efficiently so they can get back to their job sites. Key Responsibilities Customer Interaction: Greet customers in person and over the phone, providing prompt assistance, product information, and a professional, helpful experience. Sales & Quoting: Prepare accurate quotes, process orders efficiently using our point-of-sale (POS) system, and diligently follow up on inquiries to close sales. Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of our product lines, including lumber, decking, siding, roofing, hardware, tools, and specialty items, to effectively recommend complete project solutions. Order Management: Track orders, manage inventory checks, and coordinate delivery or pickup schedules seamlessly with the yard and logistics teams. Relationship Building: Cultivate strong, lasting relationships with contractors and trade professionals to encourage repeat business and loyalty. Problem Solving: Address customer issues or complaints promptly and professionally, finding solutions that ensure satisfaction and maintain our reputation for reliability. Team Collaboration: Work closely with outside sales, yard staff, and management to ensure seamless operations and communication. Qualifications & Skills Experience: Proven track record in a sales, customer service, or retail environment. Experience working with building materials, hardware, or construction supplies is a significant advantage. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and friendly demeanor. Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using computers, email, and point-of-sale software. Math Skills: Strong basic math skills for calculating material quantities, pricing, and project takeoffs. Work Ethic: Reliable, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
