Software Engineer (Full-Stack/AI Focus)

Amentum Advanced Solutions is a performance unit of our Engineering & Technology (E&T) Line of Business. The Amentum Advanced Solutions specializes in the design, construction, and operation of unique and complex research and development facilities, including, as examples, wind tunnels (aerospace, automotive, and motorsports), rocket test stands, climatic chambers, jet engine test cells, acoustic chambers, altitude test facilities, captive trajectory systems, and nuclear facilities. Our projects span the automotive, motorsports, defense, nuclear, and aerospace markets. Recent clients include Audi, Boeing, BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, Honda, General Motors, NASA, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Department of Energy, Volkswagen, and many others in North America, Europe, and Asia. Responsibilities include: Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade software applications. Implement AI/ML data pipelines and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems for mission-critical workflows. Ensure all deliverables meet DOE compliance, security standards, and operational requirements. Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and cross-functional teams to support national security and customer objectives. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other Engineering Field with AI hands on experience 2+ years of hands-on experience in full-stack development (.NET, Python, React/Blazor) Proven experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines Experience with AI/ML integration, RAG systems, and data pipeline engineering (ETL, NiFi, Spark) Familiarity with secure/regulated environments (DOE compliance, IP whitelisting, secret management, audit-ready logging) Preferred: Active Q or TS-eligible security clearance ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION Software Development & Architecture: 50% (Designing full-stack applications, implementing CQRS, REST APIs, Blazor/React frontends, unit testing) Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering: 10% (containerization, CI/CD pipeline management, performance optimization, local first deployment, AWS/Azure integration) AI/ML & Data Pipeline Integration: 15% (Building RAG systems, ETL pipelines, data ingestion for ML models, spend tracking, OSINT integration) Security & Compliance: 15% (Implementing hardened security controls, DOE/agency compliance, SSM secret management, log sanitization, audit readiness) Cross-Functional Collaboration & Documentation: 10% (Working with security/infra teams, Agile workflows, technical documentation, code reviews) Unusual or Special Physical Requirements of Position Lifting: 0% Climbing: 0% Crawling: 0% Special clothing/equipment (wearing): 0% Unusual physical requirements: 0% High noise level: 1% Other: undefined Description of Work Environment Office environment Some travel may be involved to support client work 5-10% Other: Equipment and Machines Involved in Work Tasks Laptop, dual monitors, development IDEs, cloud consoles, version control systems, Jira/DevOps tools Hand tools for occasional system maintenance (
