Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic

Job Description RAD Curbside is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Afton, WY. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of trash collection trucks, roll-off trucks, semi tractors, trailers, and waste hauling equipment from our fully equipped 8,000 sq. ft. heated shop.We're looking for a dependable, safety-focused mechanic with strong diagnostic and repair experience who takes pride in keeping equipment operating efficiently and reliably. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and being part of a growing operation where their skills truly matter.Position OverviewFull-Time Position40–45 hours per weekShift schedule and on-call hours to be determinedStarting Pay: DOE, $33+/hour startingBenefits401(k)Health InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceAflac Coverage and Life insurance Stable, year-round work environmentKey ResponsibilitiesFleet Maintenance & RepairPerform preventative maintenance and inspections on fleet vehicles and equipmentDiagnose and repair:Diesel and gas enginesHydraulic systemsElectrical systemsPneumatic systemsMechanical componentsComplete major overhauls and general repairs on:Trash collection trucksRoll-off trucksSemi tractors and trailersWaste hauling equipmentUse our fleet maintenance software to schedule and record repairs, request parts and schedule preventative maintenance Operational SupportAssist with field repairs and emergency maintenance when neededMaintain accurate maintenance and inspection recordsEnsure fleet vehicles meet DOT and safety standardsSupport operational readiness for next-day collection routesBackup Driver & Operations SupportThis position may also require:Operating trash collection trucks, roll-off trucks, and semi trucks with 53' trailersActing as backup support for commercial recycling, commercial trash, and residential collection routesParticipating in on-call rotation and emergency response as neededQualificationsPreferred Experience6+ years of heavy-duty mechanic experienceStrong background in:Hydraulic repairField service repairTruck and equipment repairUtility or vocational fleet maintenanceKnowledge & SkillsStrong understanding of:Diesel and gas engine diagnostics and repairHydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systemsDOT inspections and complianceOSHA, DOT, and transportation safety regulationsPreventative maintenance practicesAbility to:Diagnose and repair issues independently in both shop and field settingsRead and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematicsWork independently and as part of a teamCommunicate effectively and prioritize safety in all situationsPreferred Additional SkillsTrash truck fleet maintenance experienceWelding and fabrication experiencePersonal mechanic toolsLicenses & CertificationsPreferred:Commercial Brake CertificationValid DOT Medical Card (or ability to obtain before hire)Valid CDL with acceptable driving recordOR ability to obtain CDL within 90 days of hireEducationHigh school diploma or GED requiredVocational training in Diesel or Automotive Technology preferredor equivalent industry experiencePhysical RequirementsThis is a physically demanding position performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
