Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant - First AssistCompensation: $76.05 - $92.05 per hourLocation: Oceanside, NY (Long Island)Position Summary:A leading Long Island Level II Trauma Center is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant to support its open-heart surgery program. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a highly respected cardiovascular surgical team in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.The PA will play a critical role in managing patient care across the perioperative continuum, including surgical assisting and clinical coordination. This position requires strong clinical judgment, cardiac surgery experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively while providing leadership and mentorship within the PA team.ResponsibilitiesSchedule/Shift: Full-time position with 12.5-hour day shiftsKey Duties:Assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including serving as first assist in open-heart surgeriesManage perioperative patient care, including assessments, diagnostics, and treatment planning in collaboration with physiciansOrder and interpret labs and imaging, and prescribe medications within scope of practiceCollaborate with multidisciplinary surgical and clinical teams to support comprehensive patient careProvide leadership and mentorship to PA team members while maintaining accurate EMR documentationQualificationsEducation* Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant Program (Master's preferred)Licensure and CertificationsActive New York State Physician Assistant LicenseNCCPA CertificationDEA RegistrationBLS and ACLS certificationsNYS Infection Control CertificationSkillsRecent operating room experience requiredExperience as a Cardiothoracic Surgery First Assist preferredVessel harvesting experience strongly preferredStrong clinical decision-making and critical thinking skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbout UsRCM Healthcare Services' mission is to provide opportunities for qualified candidates across medical professions.
