AQUATIC COACH
DescriptionNature of WorkThis job requires that the employee is flexible about scheduling to accommodate the success/needs of the swim team. This may include early mornings, evenings and weekends. The effective management of both swim teams will depend on the coordination of the Aquatic Program Coordinator and the Barracuda’s coach.Duties And ResponsibilitiesAdministrative dutiesHave knowledge of Rec1 and administration work related to swim team management.Responsible for the safety of participants and staff in facility.Performs paperwork and scheduling required for the attendance to swim meets for Barracuda’s.Collaborates with the Aquatic Program Coordinator to develop plans for hosting swim meets.Arranges proper plans for the team traveling to/from swim meets.Attends and contributes information to management meetings.Swim Team and InstructionTeach, educate, and operate the program to better meet the needs of the facilities’ swim team needs. Complete appropriate paperwork in a timely manner.Contribute knowledge, experience, and quality work ethic to all swim team management and instruction.Enforce rules of facility as a leader and a follower.Lead practices four nights a week.RequirementsGeneral DescriptionPrefer a minimum of 2 years of ever-increasing responsibility in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI), and/or Basic Safety Instructor (BSI). Demonstrates a clear understanding of all swimming skills. Demonstrates an ability to clearly communicate swimming skills to participants and able to manage the needs of the swim team.Hiring CriteriaMinimum QualificationsARC Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid/AED CertificationARC WSI CertificationDemonstrate competency in written and oral communication1-2 years’ experience coaching a swim teamPreferred QualificationsARC LGI CertificationCurrent certification by American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) as a Level I, II, and III CoachPrevious ExperiencePrior experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor desired. Ideal candidate will have prior coaching experience with a team of 10 or more swimmers. The job requires that the employee have a clear understanding of all swimming skills.
