Engineer II, Transportation

At RK&K, we are hiring a Transportation Engineer II to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA. As a Transportation Engineer II on our highway design team, you will be responsible for the design and analysis of complex transportation design and design-build projects. Projects will include, but not be limited to new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, drainage and multimodal improvements.Essential FunctionsDesign and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignmentsPrepare plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheetsCalculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimatesSupport preparation of design documentationSupport preparation of specifications packagesWork with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challengesRequired Skills and ExperienceTwo (2) + years of experience in roadway designEngineer in Training ( E.I.T ) or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hirePractical knowledge of OpenRoads DesignerExperience working with industry software packages such as MicroStation, InRoads, GeoPak, Civil 3DWorking knowledge of basic roadway design principalsBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related fieldPreferred Skills and ExperienceFour (4) + years of experience in roadway designRoadway widening or new alignment designInnovative intersection designSidewalk or shared use path designDrainage designOther DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
