Americorps Member: OutLoud Voices Program Coordinator
At OutLoud, we believe that youth are forces of change in our community. Youth don't just have future potential; they are powerful right now, and their voices need to be heard. We serve youth and educators from over 30 different zip codes in the Dallas area, providing free access to arts and well-being programming at our Youth Arts Center and community sites across the city. Americorps members will provide arts and storytelling programming to youth in middle and high school with the goal of amplifying youth voice, and ensuring Dallas youth have access to arts programs regardless of their ability to pay. They will also work on our restorED program, which provides well-being programming to youth at campuses throughout the metroplex. Members will help plan and facilitate youth workshops and program events. Primary responsibilities include:Act as a mentor for youth, build positive relationships and have positive interactions with them. Responsible for overseeing the daily program logistics.Assist with project preparation (i.e. setting up art studios for daily projects). Facilitate arts and well-being activities.Design creative workshops for participants. Help plan and execute program events, exhibitions, and performances. Capture photos of programs. Administer program assessments. Support the social emotional development of youth in the program by creating a positive climate, facilitating dialogue, and overseeing collaborative and self-reflective work.Help maintain supply storage area and properly store equipment after projects are completed.This location requires a total service commitment of 675 hours.Americorps Members will serve from September 3 - May 23. Benefits include Living Allowance of $8,100.08; paid out biweekly ($426.32) Education Award of $2,817.14; earned at the end of term. Average of 20 hours per week to meet service requirement. Service Conditions:This job is highly interpersonal and requires that members work well with others. Members must be able to accommodate changing work conditions and diverse points of view. Physical demands are similar to what a teacher experiences. Qualifications:Experience working with youth, especially diverse populations. Experience in one or more artistic discipline. Interest in the arts and youth development. Creative and flexible. Minimum: High school diploma or GED. At least 17 years or older. U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. Ability to work flexible hours as requested - some Saturdays and evenings may be required. Access to reliable transportation to and from host site daily. Members agree to submit to a criminal background check, as well as the National Sex Offender Registry.This position has recurring access to vulnerable populations. As such, it requires a three-part National Service Criminal History Check, including an FBI fingerprint background check.
