Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as anAssociate Underwriter !About the RoleYou will underwrite new business accounts for Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital Indemnity between 100 and 1500 lives with emphasis between 100 and 250 lives. Collaborate with other business partners on cross sale opportunities to promote synergies within the portfolio of products in the Benefits Division. Contribute to the achievement of Symetra's sales, profitability, persistency and growth goals by applying training and demonstrating a baseline level of proficiency in risk evaluation and pricing.What you will doNew Business Pricing - review Request for Proposal (RFP) submissions including verifying integrity of census data and plan information and requesting additional information as needed.Develop & analyze manual ratings and if applicable, historic premium/claims information via a credibility formula to develop and communicate new business rate recommendations in accordance with pricing targets and level of authority. Sales expectations of $1.5 MM per year.Renewal Pricing - Underwrite large market inforce customer accounts. Supplemental Health generally up to 5,000 eligible lives).Process sold accounts and renewals following established procedures while managing a book of business.Relationships - develop and maintain positive relationships with Symetra sales, field and home office service and actuarial teams.Projects and Reporting - participate in projects and training initiatives as assigned.
