Senior Marketing Manager
Henry Holt & Co., an imprint of Macmillan with a 160-year history, is seeking a Senior Marketing Manager to work on titles spanning upmarket commercial fiction, literary debut, award-winning serious nonfiction, prescriptive nonfiction, and memoir.Reporting to the Senior Marketing Director, the Senior Marketing Manager will be a key team member overseeing all aspects of developing and executing title marketing campaigns, building Holt platforms and audience reach, and supporting key imprint initiatives to drive book discovery and sales. The ideal candidate will be strategic, creative, and collaborative and must possess strong presentation, prioritization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.What You'll DoDevelop and execute innovative marketing and advertising campaigns for 20-30 assigned titles a year to increase reader buzz and salesAdvise authors on leveraging their professional network and author channels (ex. newsletter, social, contacts) to drive awareness and preordersCommunicate marketing plans and updates to authors/agents, editors, sales, central teams, etc.Track expenses and manage budgets for assigned titles and projectsOversee creation and delivery of marketing and advertising materials, including copywriting, design coordination, and final deliveryCoordinate and execute galley and finished copy outreach/mailings and giveawaysAttend and contribute to regular marketing, sales, title-specific, library and academic marketing, and seasonal positioning meetingsContribute to the content strategy and growth of Holt’s newsletter, influencer program, and social platforms, with support in creating, scheduling, and publishing promotional content as neededMonitor and report on sales and early reviewer buzz to identify seasonal marketing opportunitiesCollaborate with marketing colleagues as a co-marketer on shared assignments and act as a peer mentor to junior staff and seasonal marketing intern Lend support to the Senior Marketing Director and Associate Director on key backlist initiatives and imprint goalsLend a marketing perspective in acquisition reads and represent Holt Marketing in acquisition meetings as neededCoordinate seasonal sales conference materials and maintain up-to-date imprint catalogsMaintain strong advertising vendor relationships and contribute to advertising strategy, ad reporting, post-campaign analysis, and trend monitoringWhat You'll BringMotivated marketing generalist interested in both adult fiction and nonfiction and dedicated to creating innovative and creative campaignsExceptional multitasking and organizational skills to manage and adapt priorities in a fast-paced environmentCapable of balancing independent work, team collaboration, and alignment with leadership Effective communicator with excellent presentation skills able to adapt to a variety of internal and external stakeholder needs, including authors and agents Deep understanding of social media, influencer marketing, and preorder strategy Ability to plan, optimize, analyze, and report on digital ad campaignsSkilled at industry networking and managing up, across, and downAbility to balance planning and execution, with strong prioritization skills and adaptabilityStrong sense of marketing design best practices with solid photography, video, and copywriting experienceInterest in developing leadership experience and people management skillsProven history of working on bestselling fiction and nonfiction title campaignsComfort working with celebrities and high-profile authors as well as debut authorsInterest in working in a collaborative team at a growing imprint5+ years marketing experience in trade book publishing or related field (previous title marketing experience strongly preferred)Familiarity with Google Business Suite, project management tools like Airtable and Basecamp, and marketing analytics toolsExperience in writing creative briefs, design routing, and tools like CanvaSome management training and/or experienceProven social media account management experienceCollege degree or equivalent work experience. The salary range for this role is $86,000 - $91,000.This position is classified as remote but is tied to our New York, NY office located at 120 Broadway. Employment is subject to New York State tax withholding under applicable regulations.
