About the CompanySynchroGrid is an engineering consulting company that specializes in system protection for generation, transmission, and distribution utilities. We have a legacy of providing innovative solutions that simplify your daily operations. We also build software for the power industry. Our tools help utilities, transmission owners, and generator owners handle the engineering and regulatory work that keeps the electric grid reliable, using algorithms and automation to replace slow, manual workflows. Our projects typically sit where engineering analysis meets everyday usability. That includes compliance automation for power grid reliability standards, tools that process and analyze power system data, and applications that turn complex calculations into clear workflows and audit-ready reports. Our users are engineers, and our goal is to give them software that is robust, fast, accurate, and easy to use. Much of our work is built as desktop applications using Electron, with React front ends and C++ for performance-critical algorithms and integration with external software tools. You'll work on software that helps keep the grid reliable, on a team that values collaboration and careful engineering. You'll build deep algorithmic skills on real engineering problems while working across the full stack, from native code to the interfaces engineers use every day.About the RoleWe're looking for a junior full stack developer who enjoys solving hard technical problems and wants to grow into a well-rounded engineer. Your main focus will be the application core: C++ code that implements engineering algorithms, runs inside our Node.js and Electron applications, and integrates with the external tools our users rely on. You'll also get hands-on experience with the React front end, helping shape how your work is presented to users. You'll join a multi-disciplinary team where your work ships to power utilities and exposes you to complex software design tasks and domain-specific engineering problems. You don't need any background in power systems or regulatory compliance. What matters most is solid software design fundamentals, careful attention to correctness, and a willingness to dig deep into unfamiliar technical domains.ResponsibilitiesImplement, maintain, and optimize engineering algorithms in modern C++, with a focus on accuracy, performance, and reliability.Build Node.js native addons in modern C++ that efficiently pass data between JavaScript and native components.Design and maintain SQL database schemas and queries that store and retrieve power system data, with attention to data integrity, performance, and traceability.Design communication interfaces between Electron's renderer and main processes, keeping the boundary between the UI and the application core clean and well documented.Develop integrations with external engineering software tools, including databases, simulation environments, and external libraries.Process, validate, and manage power system data, ensuring results are traceable and ready for regulatory compliance reporting and audits.Help write software specifications that translate engineering needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements, working with domain experts to define scope, behavior, and acceptance criteria.Write unit and integration tests in C++ and TypeScript, and help keep build, packaging, and release pipelines reliable across platforms.Contribute to the React front end, building features that surface calculation results and workflows to users with guidance from senior developers.Investigate and fix user-reported issues, tracing problems from the UI into native code.Take part in code reviews, planning, and technical discussions, and contribute to internal documentation.Build a working understanding of the power system concepts and industry standards behind the features you develop. QualificationsA degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Required SkillsSolid understanding of graph representations and traversal algorithms.Working knowledge of modern C++, data structures, and debugging.Interest in growing your front-end skills with React.Familiarity with TypeScript and Node.js, including asynchronous programming.Comfort with Git and collaborative development workflows.Clear communication, attention to detail, and a habit of asking questions when something is unclear. Preferred SkillsFamiliarity with SQL and relational database designExposure to N-API or building C++ native Node.js modules.Experience with Python for prototyping or data processing. Experience with Electron or other desktop application frameworks.Experience integrating with third-party Windows software using COM interfaces and DLLs.Familiarity with testing tools such as Google Test, pytest, Playwright, or Jest. Experience with React or other front-end frameworks.SynchroGrid is an Equal Opportunity Employer
