Maintenance I - Customer Service

JOB TITLE: Maintenance I - Customer Service CLASS: 53 CHARACTERISTICS OF THE JOB This position is responsible for reading and accurately recording meter readings to ensure proper billings while walking designated meter routes on assigned schedules. Supervision is generally received either written or orally from a supervisor or designated team leader. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Read meters, pull meters when necessary, check for and report defective meters and note unusual consumption. Enter meter readings legibly and maintain meter books. Handle complaints from public or refer them to a supervisor. Make repairs and perform maintenance on water/sewer facilities as directed or scheduled by supervisor. Work hours and schedules as directed by supervisor. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS High School graduate or equivalent GED. Possess a valid Kentucky Driver's License. Ability to read, write and communicate in basic English. Ability to follow written and oral directions and instructions. Physically capable of performing essential job functions. Vision must be 20/20 or correctable to this level. Ability to record figures accurately and legibly. Pass federally mandated drug screen and participate in drug testing program. Walk long distances under varying climatic conditions, reading gas meters, and recording information. Work overtime as required by supervisor. On call as required (stand-by duty).
