Primary Location: United States (US) - Iowa - Des MoinesFunction: Factory Engineering (CA)Title: PDP Weld Manufacturing Engineer - 118885Onsite/Remote:Onsite PositionYour ResponsibilitiesAs a PDP Weld Manufacturing Engineer for John Deere Des Moines Works located in Des Moines, IA, you will:Concept and procure weld tooling, robotic weld systems, specialized racks, and material handling equipment utilizing E-Tools to determine the sequence of events, communicate issues and verify safety and ergonomic methodsLead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities to resolve manufacturing, safety and ergonomic issues, and quality metricsParticipate in quality activities, such as: Function Geometry Reviews (FGRs), Design Process Assembly Reviews (DPARs), and Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (PFMEAs) activitiesInnovate to implement product performance improvements and cost reductions for welding operationsDevelop and implement lean cell layouts to improve material flow and material presentation in areas of responsibilitySupport Appropriation for Expenditure (AFE) labor and capital estimates by developing accurate, timely, labor estimates and part routings in SAP for program managementSupport the launch of new product linesVISA Sponsorship is NOT available for this positionWhat Skills You NeedUnderstanding of weld tooling design, robotic/automation systems development, work center design, line design, and complex welded assembliesAbility to champion and improve overall product flow and line design within the factory, working through and directing projects from start to finishExperience with problem solving and working in a team environmentEffective verbal and written communication skillsFamiliar with Microsoft Office applications, wPlanner/MPP, SAP, and 3D ModelingAbility and willingness to travel up to 25%What Makes You StandoutExpertise with complex automated manufacturing work cells / robotic programmingExperience with Creo & Auto CADKnowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances (GD&T)Work experience in a union environmentExperience with shop floor manufacturing, incentive pay systems, and work measurementHigh level of knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justificationUnderstanding of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP)EducationIdeally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Weld, Mechanical Engineering, Technology or related fieldWhat You'll GetAt John Deere, you are empowered to create a career that will take you to where you want to go while working in an inclusive team environment.
