Structural Engineer Associate
About the PositionAvsar Construction is seeking a Structural Engineer Associate to support the planning, design, review, and construction of structural projects. The successful candidate will perform professional structural engineering work involving the preparation, analysis, and review of structural plans, specifications, calculations, estimates, reports, and construction-related documentation. This position will work closely with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, construction inspectors, and District staff to ensure structural designs and completed work comply with applicable federal, state, and local requirements and meet established standards for safety, quality, constructability, and performance.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform structural engineering analysis, design, and review for District facilities and capital improvement projects.Prepare and review structural plans, specifications, calculations, estimates, reports, and quality assurance documentation.Review structural services provided by engineering consultants and architects and provide recommendations and revisions as appropriate.Develop structural designs involving concrete, structural steel, timber, masonry, foundations, floor systems, walls, roof framing, and related building systems.Review project status and provide technical guidance to structural designers, engineers, and other design professionals.Review structural plans, specifications, mathematical calculations, and alternate construction approaches for technical accuracy and feasibility.Evaluate completed structural work for conformance with applicable standards, constructability, completeness, and accuracy.Required QualificationsExperienceMinimum of 3 years of full-time professional structural engineering experience.Experience with structural design, analysis, plan review, specifications, calculations, cost estimating, and construction-related engineering activities.Experience coordinating with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and construction personnel.Experience with school building construction is preferred.EducationBachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization in structural engineering coursework from a recognized college or university.Preferred LicenseProfessional Engineer (PE) license recognized by the California Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists is preferred.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesThe ideal candidate will demonstrate:Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, design practices, and construction methods.Understanding of structural systems including concrete, steel, timber, masonry, and foundations.Ability to interpret and evaluate structural drawings, specifications, calculations, soils data, and technical reports.Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to identify structural issues and develop practical, constructible solutions.Experience with design review, quality assurance, constructability review, and construction administration.Strong communication and coordination skills when working with architects, engineers, contractors, inspectors, and project stakeholders.Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining technical accuracy, quality, and established project requirements.Why Join Avsar Construction?At Avsar Construction, you will have the opportunity to contribute to complex structural and capital improvement projects while working alongside multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, construction, and facilities professionals.
