Software Engineering Advisor – Data Engineer - Hybrid

If you enjoy solving complex data problems, improving data quality at scale, and building high-impact solutions, this is a great opportunity to make a measurable difference.ResponsibilitiesDesign and deliver scalable data pipelines in AWS and Databricks that drive reliable, production-ready data solutionsProactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data pipeline issues to ensure consistent system performance and data integrityTriage and resolve incidents based on business impact, ensuring timely and effective issue resolutionPartner with business stakeholders to investigate and explain data discrepancies, improving trust in data assetsDevelop ad hoc analyses and reports using SQL and Python to support critical business decisionsAutomate manual processes to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and accelerate delivery timelinesCollaborate across engineering, platform, and product teams to manage dependencies and resolve service issuesDeliver solutions within an Agile (Kanban/DevOps) environment, contributing to continuous improvement and faster delivery cyclesRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related fieldStrong hands-on expertise in SQL and Python for data processing and analysisProven experience designing and supporting data pipelines in AWS environments (S3, EC2, Glue, Redshift, Aurora)Experience with Databricks for data engineering and SQL analyticsSolid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and relational databasesExperience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow (DAGs, scheduling, operators)Proficiency with version control systems (GitLab, GitHub) and CI/CD best practicesStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues in production environmentsAbility to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersPreferred QualificationsExperience working with REST APIs and tools such as PostmanFamiliarity with BI tools such as Tableau or ThoughtSpot, including troubleshooting data issues tied to RedshiftExperience automating workflows and improving operational efficiency in data environmentsExposure to Agile methodologies and DevOps principles in a production settingBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldWhat Sets You ApartYou take ownership and consistently deliver high-quality solutions on timeYou thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments and embrace continuous learningYou bring a proactive mindset, identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes before issues ariseYou balance technical depth with business understanding to deliver meaningful outcomesIf you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 111,700 - 186,100 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.At The Cigna Group, you’ll enjoy a comprehensive range of benefits, with a focus on supporting your whole health.
