Lead Electrical Estimator

Job Description Job Title: Lead Electrical Estimator Location: Miami, Florida Job Summary: The Lead Electrical Estimator is responsible for overseeing the estimation team and process for all electrical construction projects. This pivotal role involves preparing detailed cost estimates, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring competitive and accurate bids are submitted. As the lead, this position will not only handle complex estimates but also guide and mentor junior estimators in best practices and methodologies specific to electrical construction. Responsibilities: Direct and supervise the activities of the electrical estimating team, ensuring all work meets the company’s standards for accuracy and competitiveness. Analyze blueprints, construction drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors to discuss cost estimates and resolve cost-related issues. Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the efficiency of the estimation process, including the integration of new software or technologies. Review electrical specifications and propose value engineering options when appropriate. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and regulations affecting cost and to ensure compliance with all relevant codes and standards. Prepare and present detailed reports on the financial and operational feasibility of electrical installations. Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure high-quality materials are obtained at competitive prices. Mentor and develop junior estimators, providing training and feedback to help them grow within the company. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical estimating within a construction environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role. In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and the specific challenges and regulations in Florida. Proficiency in electrical estimating software Accubid. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Skills and Competencies: Excellent leadership and team management abilities. Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy and quality. Effective communication and negotiation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Advanced problem-solving skills and the capacity to make decisions under pressure. Work Environment: The Lead Electrical Estimator typically works in an office environment but may require occasional visits to construction sites for project assessment and team coordination. The role involves significant use of computers and other technology. Physical Demand: This role is primarily sedentary but does require the ability to occasionally move around construction sites, which may include navigating uneven terrain and managing exposure to elements typical of active construction areas.
