Java/Performance Engineering

Overview In this role you will lead performance-focused architecture and consulting for complex enterprise applications. You will collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to identify tuning opportunities, define guidelines, and guide independent projects. You’ll work on Java-based systems, WebSphere, and SOA services to improve reliability and efficiency at scale. This is a strategic role for shaping performance programs and mentoring teams. A strong leadership mindset and hands-on technical impact are key. Responsibilitiesperform deep-dive analysis of code and configuration to identify performance opportunities and implement solutionstune and optimize Java/J2EE applications, WAS configurations, and SOA/SOAP servicesanalyze RDBMS, SQL performance, JVM memory, thread dumps, and network latency to reduce bottlenecksprofile URLs and browser tools to inform performance improvementsestablish performance-related processes and onboard technology teams to these guidelineslead independent projects from an architectural perspective and define new architecturesmentor staff and internal consultants, providing thought leadership and guidancedrive cost-efficient performance improvements through virtualization and other techniquescollaborate with diverse stakeholders including business owners and ITS teamsquickly learn proprietary Policy Admin System framework to identify and resolve issues Key requirements7+ years in technology consulting, enterprise architecture, and architectural frameworks7+ years in Core Java, J2EE applications7+ years in WebSphere configuration and performance tuning7+ years in performance tuning of complex web applications and SOA (SOAP Web Services)7+ years in RDBMS and SQL tuning, JVM heap/memory analysis, thread dumps, and network latency analysis7+ years in deep-dive code/config analysis with actionable tuning solutions (APM tools like Dynatrace advantageous)team player with ability to work with diverse stakeholders and operate with limited supervisionability to set up performance processes/guidelines and onboard teams5+ years in project execution and defining new architecturesexperience in thought leadership, white papers, and mentoring staffteam playerstakeholder managementquick learnerCore JavaJ2EEWebSphere (WAS)
