VP, Data Center Facilities Engineering

Vice President Facilities EngineeringFleet's owner for quality and technical governance across the full facility lifecycle, from design intent and construction execution through commissioning, site startup, turnover/acceptance, and steady-state operations.Key Responsibilities:Build and run programs that ensure sites are commissioned and turned over to Operations in adherence to a clearly defined, repeatable Fleet standardEnsure sites are only accepted when they are fully ready for operations and customer loadEnsure the portfolio operates consistently to Fleet's specifications and policiesLead major infrastructure replacement projects and capital projects outside of construction scopeOwn continuous improvement through audits, field feedback, training, and standards controlSupport safety, security, and availability by building measurable, enforceable, and continuously improving programsCommissioning Program Ownership:Own Fleet's commissioning framework and acceptance philosophy, including stage gates from pre-functional through integrated systems testing and turnoverDefine and maintain commissioning requirements, deliverables, and pass/fail acceptance criteria for construction and commissioning partnersDrive consistent site startup readiness including operational readiness requirements such as spares, tools, procedures, training, documentation, alarm strategy, and escalation pathsEstablish a disciplined punch list and deficiency management process including severity classification, closure verification, and reportingQA/QC Program Leadership:Build and run Fleet's QA/QC program including audit plans, inspection points, evidence requirements, and corrective action workflowsEnsure quality controls exist across vendor work including construction, commissioning, and maintenance vendorsIdentify systemic defects and repeat failures and lead root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actionsSite Acceptance & Turnover Governance:Own requirements for post-construction acceptance into operations including technical, documentation, safety, maintainability, and operability readinessLead acceptance reviews and decision-making ensuring sites meet defined standards before handoffDefine and manage turnover artifacts including as-builts, one-lines, O&M manuals, test reports, sequences of operation, warranty details, parts lists, and asset data standardsInternal Audit & Field Validation Programs:Build internal audit programs to validate operational design is working in the field and operations are executed per Fleet standards and policiesEstablish audit cadence, sampling methodology, scoring, reporting, and closure verificationPartner with site leaders to convert audit findings into durable improvementsStandards Management (Control, Revision, Approval):Own Fleet's standards lifecycle including creation, revision, technical review, approval, publication, and change communicationMaintain a controlled document system with versioning, effective dates, and applicability across sitesLead standards councils and review boards to ensure alignment and updatesMaintenance Governance & Approval:Own the maintenance management governance frameworkEnsure maintenance procedures, periodicities, and methods align with Fleet standards and equipment requirementsEstablish quality checks for preventive maintenance execution and documentationTraining & Qualification (Technician and Field Engineer):Build training and qualification programs including competency matrices, onboarding, re-qualification, and continuing educationEnsure training content aligns with standards and lessons learnedImplement programs that improve safety, quality, and uptime outcomesCross-Functional / Matrix Team Program Administration:Administer cross-functional program structures including charters, scope, cadence, decision rights, and action trackingFacilitate execution across stakeholders to drive closure on multi-team initiativesMetrics & Continuous Improvement:Build KPI dashboards for commissioning quality, defect trends, audit results, training completion, maintenance quality, and recurring issuesDrive continuous improvement through standardization, simplification, automation, and reduction of reworkRequired Qualifications:10+ years in mission-critical facilities engineering, commissioning, QA/QC, or data center operations or similar infrastructureDemonstrated ownership of commissioning standards and acceptance criteria in large-scale or hyperscale environmentsStrong working knowledge of critical MEP infrastructure including power distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, protection schemes, cooling systems, controls/BMS, and monitoring systemsProven experience building audit programs that drive measurable performance improvementAbility to translate engineering intent into field-executable standards, procedures, and requirementsStrong documentation discipline including controlled standards, versioning, and evidence-based acceptanceStrong cross-functional leadership across construction, operations, vendors, and stakeholdersWillingness and ability
