About the RoleThe Montessori Primary Assistant supports the Lead Guide in creating a joyful, peaceful, and purposeful learning environment for children ages 3–6. Success in this role looks like a classroom that runs smoothly, where children are consistently supported in their independence, curiosity, and social-emotional growth. As a key member of the classroom team, the Primary Assistant models grace and courtesy, ensures the environment is beautifully maintained, and partners closely with the Lead Guide to implement the Montessori curriculum. This role is essential to the school’s mission of fostering confident, capable, and compassionate learners.ResponsibilitiesClassroom SupportAssist the Lead Guide in maintaining an orderly, calm, and engaging Montessori environment.Support children in daily routines, transitions, and problem solving using Montessori-aligned practices.Observe children and provide feedback to the Lead Guide regarding social, emotional, and academic development.Prepare, maintain, and rotate materials in the classroom as directed.Student Care and SupervisionEnsure the safety and well-being of all children through active supervision and awareness.Model respectful communication, independence-building strategies, and conflict resolution skills.Support children with toileting, self-care, and practical life responsibilities as needed.Classroom EnvironmentMaintain cleanliness, order, and aesthetic beauty in the classroom and shared spaces.Assist with snack preparation, material cleaning, and classroom organization.Collaboration and ProfessionalismPartner with the Lead Guide to uphold Montessori principles and school values.Build positive relationships with children and colleagues.Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development to grow in Montessori understanding.Follow school policies, health and safety procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.QualificationsPassion for supporting young children through Montessori-aligned, respectful caregiving practices.Warm, patient, and consistent presence with strong communication and teamwork skills.Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and calm environment.Commitment to professionalism, reliability, and continuous learning.CPR/First Aid certification, Food Handlers, Criminal History Background check (or willingness to complete all).Ability to engage actively in a classroom environment.
