Artisan Shop Coordinator - Brentwood Arts Exchange

DescriptionThe Artisan Shop Coordinator is a part-time position (not to exceed 30 hours per week) that supports the mission of Brentwood Arts Exchange by overseeing all aspects of the on-site Artisan Shop. Under the direction of the Assistant Director, this position is responsible for managing artisan relations, inventory, retail strategy, and customer service. The coordinator also supports front desk operations and assists with exhibitions and public programs.This is an on-site position at Brentwood Arts Exchange with occasional remote hours for virtual staff meetings and applicable administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a background in arts and/or retail management, and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Teams.For more information about the Seasonal Hiring process and application status for Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation, please contact Joelle Edmond, Joelle.Edmond@pgparks.com or Brenda Miller Brenda.Miller@Pgparks.com.Examples of Important DutiesPrimary Responsibilities: Artisan Shop ManagementConduct bi-annual full inventory of the Artisan Shop and update inventory spreadsheets monthlyPrepare monthly sales reports and submit check requests for gallery and shop salesSchedule and conduct quarterly restock appointments with current artisansTrack and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual sales trends to inform retail strategiesMaintain visual and physical organization of shop displays and overstock storageRecruit new artisans and maintain positive, professional relationships with all represented artistsCollaborate with the Assistant Director to curate quarterly Front Window Displays in conjunction with Main and Lab Gallery exhibitionsProvide content suggestions related to the Artisan Shop for inclusion in the weekly newsletterSupport internal communications by keeping staff informed about shop inventory, sales, and promotionsRepresent Brentwood Arts Exchange and the Artisan Shop at off-site events and promotional opportunitiesFront Desk & Facility ResponsibilitiesServe as a welcoming presence at the front desk; greet visitors and answer phone callsReceive, sort, and distribute mail within the Gateway Arts CenterComplete general office tasks such as copying, binding, and posting to community calendarsAssist with customer service, class registration, sales, and facility bookingsProvide support during public programs and special eventsAssist with basic exhibition installation and deinstallation, including patching, painting, and art handlingMaintain the cleanliness of the facility and water plants regularlySet up and reset classrooms for classes and special events as neededTrack and report daily visitor counts; compile monthly visitor log summariesMinimum QualificationsExperience in retail, arts administration, or related fieldsExcellent organizational and communication skillsAttention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks at onceComfort working with the public in a fast-paced environmentFamiliarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Excel, and TeamsAbility to lift up to 30 lbs and assist with physical tasks such as art handling or event setupSupplemental InformationMay be subject to drug and alcohol testing.The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
