Our Sheet Metal Mechanics are essential to the success of our organization. These are our "must haves" for this position:You will be required to pass a TIG Welding NVSAC regulated performance test. This is done by welding thin gauge aluminum and steel plates together in the 2G and 3G position before hiring.Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, with a focus on ventilation systems.Knowledge of MIL-STD-1688/1689, Tech Pub 248/278, and PPD documentation.Willingness to work 2nd shift as required by the position.Capability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods in a fast-paced warehouse environment.Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to loud machinery, fluctuating temperatures, and handling industrial materials.Position involves repetitive motions and manual handling of tools, metal components, and equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Must be comfortable working on your feet for extended periods during an 10 hour shift.Key Responsibilities:Read, interpret, and follow travelers, blueprints, technical drawings, and job assignment goal sheets to ensure accurate fabrication.Fabricate, cut, form, fit, and tack weld light metal parts and assemblies (e.g., ventilation systems, lockers, cabinets) using modern machinery and efficient manufacturing techniques.Work with various metals, including stainless steel, steel, and aluminum, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.Perform quality inspections to meet Advex Corporation's high standards of precision and durability.Shift & Scheduling DetailsOpenings on both 1st and 2nd shift2nd shift will train on 1st shift prior to transition7% shift differential applies to 2nd shiftEmployment Eligibility RequirementsMust be at least 18 years of ageMust be a U.S. Citizen due to government contract requirementsNo felony convictions for Theft/Deception or Violent Crimes within the past 7 yearsNo felony Drug convictions within the past 3 yearsAbility to pass background check and drug screeningPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistanceAbility to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions for 8-10 hoursComfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment with varying temperatures and noise levelsFrequent handling of tools, components, and machined metal partsWhat We OfferCompetitive payWork Schedule: 4/10 Schedule - Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shiftsAfter 60 days of employment, employees begin accruing 3 weeks of PTOSeven (7) paid holidays401(k) retirement planMedical, dental, and vision insuranceLife insurance (employee, spouse, and child offerings)Short-term and long-term disability coverageHealth savings account (HSA)Tuition reimbursementEmployee assistance program (EAP)Employee discount programEmployee referral bonus programTool purchasing programAbout Advex CorporationFounded in 1969 and headquartered in Hampton, Virginia, Advex Corporation is a premier metal fabrication and machining company supporting aircraft carriers, submarines, and marine defense applications.
