Outpatient Neurologist (MD/DO)Position SummaryThe Outpatient Neurologist provides comprehensive neurologic care to patients in an ambulatory setting. This role focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and longitudinal management of acute and chronic neurologic disorders, emphasizing continuity of care, evidence-based treatment, and patient-centered outcomes with limited or no inpatient responsibilities.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide outpatient neurologic consultations and longitudinal follow-up careEvaluate and manage patients with neurologic conditions including headache disorders, epilepsy, stroke follow-up, movement disorders, neuromuscular disease, cognitive disorders, and neuropathyPerform comprehensive neurologic histories and examinationsDevelop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plansInterpret and manage diagnostic studies such as EEG, EMG/NCS, neuroimaging, and laboratory testing as applicablePerform office-based procedures consistent with training and privilegesCollaborate with primary care providers and neurology subspecialists for coordinated careEducate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and disease managementMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiativesSupervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or clinical staff as applicableComply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standardsQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited Neurology residency programBoard-eligible or board-certified in NeurologyAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibilitySkills and CompetenciesBroad expertise in outpatient neurologic disease managementStrong diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision-making skillsExcellent communication and patient counseling abilitiesAbility to manage chronic and complex neurologic conditions longitudinallyCommitment to evidence-based, patient-centered careWork EnvironmentOutpatient neurology clinics with minimal or no inpatient responsibilitiesSchedule typically includes weekday clinic hours with limited call depending on practice modelPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, and move throughout clinic environmentsManual dexterity for neurologic examinations and office-based proceduresVisual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and diagnostic interpretation
