Structural Detailer II
Job Summary
Mid-States Companies is seeking a Structural Detailer (with leadership experience preferred) to join our growing team. This role is responsible for creating detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings for grain handling equipment and industrial structures. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, sales, millwrights, fabrication teams, and suppliers to deliver accurate, high-quality drawings that meet project schedules and company standards.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing their own schedule within construction and manufacturing timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Create detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using Inventor, SolidWorks, or Advanced Steel
Produce drawings for grain handling equipment and structures including conveyors, stairs, ladders, walkways, towers, catwalks, and support steel
Collect and verify project scope information from engineers and project managers
Apply company standards and OSHA requirements to all designs
Review, revise, and submit approval drawings to Sales, Project Managers, and Design Engineers
Prepare new drawings and revise existing drawings from sketches, layouts, or design input
Evaluate designs for cost efficiency, manufacturability, ease of installation, and reliability
Communicate with internal departments to determine project scope, timelines, and availability
Research design challenges and present solutions
Assist with continuous improvement of drafting and detailing practices
Provide leadership and coordination support to structural detailers as needed
Support field operations by answering drawing-related questions and incorporating field feedback into future designs
Participate in professional development and career planning discussions
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or GED
1–3 years of experience in structural steel detailing
Proficiency with Inventor, SolidWorks, or Advanced Steel
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
Demonstrated leadership skills
Legal authorization to work permanently in the country where the position is located (no sponsorship available)
Preferred:
Associate degree in Drafting/Design or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design, or Industrial Technology
Knowledge of grain handling systems and support structures
Experience leading or mentoring a structural detailing team
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
