AQUATIC CASHIER

Aquatic CashierThe Aquatic Cashier will provide basic cashiering duties at either/both of the two facility locations – front desk and concessions. Collect fees for pool usage, lessons, concessions, and rentals at the Veterans Memorial Pool; prepare and serve concession food while providing excellent customer service.General direction and oversight is provided by the Aquatic Recreation Coordinator.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Employees of the City of Walla Walla are expected to model and foster the City's core values: Service - Integrity - Collaboration - Equity - Leadership – Community.Sell pool tickets/passes; sell concession items; utilize point of sale system, collect fees for purchases, give proper change, maintain a balanced till, manage receipts and run daily cash out reports to balance funds.Prepare and serve concession food items, ensuring the concession stand is always clean and sanitary, adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Department of Health.Alert appropriate staff of emergency situations.Wear a uniform (cashier t-shirt).Perform minor first aid on patrons for cuts and scrapes.Interact positively in a strong customer services environment and respond to inquiries and complaints from customers; and provide information as appropriate.Make initial contact with 911 emergency when directed, remain calm, give and receive accurate information.Report needs and concerns to appropriate staff, including checking supply levels and reporting inventory needs.Other job functions include:Demonstrate punctual, regular, and reliable attendance which is essential for successful job performance.Present a positive, professional image; maintain cooperative and effective working relationships; assure excellent customer service with internal and external customers.Execute assignments, projects, and job responsibilities efficiently and within defined timeframes; work independently and effectively with little direction.Demonstrate good judgment and employ critical thinking to execute duties, identify issues, seek solutions, and recommend improvements in support of departmental goals.Assist staff and higher-level management; participate in resolving operational or interpersonal concerns; participate in training, meetings, and on committees as assigned.Respect the value of diversity in the workplace and the community.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:Collection of monies, making change, balancing till.Understand and follow oral and written directions.Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.Work courteously and tactfully with customers and employees.Understand and follow food worker regulations.Tools and equipment used include: Computer, calculator, and office equipment. Soda fountain machine, quick bake oven, microwave, and other food handling equipment.Physical demands include: Sitting and standing for extended periods of time; seeing, hearing, and speaking to exchange information; repetitive hand movements; intermittently stand, walk, kneel, stoop, bend at the waist and lift up to 40 pounds.Work environment is performed in an indoor office, concession stand or designated outdoor area at municipal swimming pool. In all types of weather conditions and around children, noise, and distractions.Required minimum qualifications include: Must be 15 years of age and have current food handlers permit.Desired qualifications include: First Aid and CPR. Previous cashiering experience. Bilingual in Spanish.
